ZK-178S เป็นเครื่องถ่ายภาพความร้อนด้วยอินฟราเรดที่มาพร้อมกับระบบเสียงแจ้งเตือน ซึ่งสามารถตรวจจับได้ทั้งอุณหภูมิที่ผิวของวัตถุและตรวจจับภาพความร้อนแบบเรียลไทม์ โดยอุปกรณ์รุ่นนี้สามารถตรวจจับอุณหภูมิวัตถุเป้าหมายได้หลากหลายต่อครั้ง ซึ่งแตกต่างจากเครื่องวัดอุณหภูมิอินฟราเรดทั่วไปที่สามารถตรวจวัดได้เพียงแค่หนึ่งวัตถุเป้าหมายต่อครั้ง และที่สำคัญเมื่อตรวจพบว่ามีอุณหภูมิที่มีความเสี่ยงก็สามารถแจ้งเตือนบนจอภาพได้อย่างชัดเจนอีกด้วย
อุปกรณ์ ZK-178S มีช่วงการตรวจวัดและรูปแบบการถ่ายภาพที่ค่อนข้างกว้าง ทั้งยังสามารถปรับได้ในสภาพแวดล้อมที่หลากหลาย เช่น มีไฟฉายที่มีความสว่างสูงทำให้ง่ายต่อการค้นหาวัตถุต้องสงสัยได้ในที่มืด นอกจากนี้อุปกรณ์รุ่นนี้ยังมีการใช้โมดูลเซ็นเซอร์รุ่นใหม่และโหมดสีสันที่หลากหลายเพื่อช่วยเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพให้ดียิ่งขึ้น
